Numb3rs Awards || Monday, March 20th

Okay, Jeanie... hehe

Here is the link to vote for non-livejournal users: here. And if you have a livejournal, here is the link for you. There's a ton of great stories to vote for there--mine, again, is Mea Culpa, under Hurt/Comfort and Best Novella. The voting's open for quite awhile, so take some time to read the stories and have fun!

Subject? Nah. || Thursday, March 16th

We watched Crash in my Ethics class. I'd never seen it before (remember ... no social life). And WOW. A movie hasn't moved me that much since Cinema Paradisio. And that's saying something! Now I can see why it won Best Picture. And rightly, at that. My favorite part? When the bullets turned out to be blanks. That entire scene with the little girl. Amazing, I say!

Numb3rs Awards! Teehee! Mea Culpa has been nominated for Best Hurt/Comfort and Best Novella. Click the image and go and vote, my minions! Okay, okay, I kid. (No, really. It would be nice? Pretty please? I'll give you a dollar? big grin ) (Oh, sorry ... forgot to mention that voting doesn't start until the 20th...sorry Jeanie! blush )

Speaking of fic ... even though I have no time ... I'm still churning them out! Mea Vincula is almost done ... and I'm starting a new Bones fic based on the stellar episode last night! (David Boreanaz with no shirt? Hurt and horizontal? Angst? How can you go wrong?) And I also have the Edgerton fic I'd like to get started, and another fic that someone requested me to write. I feel so honored and special.

And it's spring break. Since, like I said before, I have no social life, and plus I'm dirt poor ... no fancy island vacation for me. Instead I'll be taking the grand tour of Sitting-On-My-Buttville. I hear it's very nice there.

Crazy Day! || Friday, March 10th

Okay, so I got called into work today, things were really busy. No big deal ... three or four hours, and I need the cash anyway. So it's about 1:00 and I'm on the phone with a customer, when all of a sudden ... smoke. It came billowing down from the ceiling, all around me. shocked So I manage to get the customer on hold and alert the boss of the um ... small problem we're having. By the time I finished my phone call less than a minute later, the whole front of the office was filled with smoke. (Thank goodness it was lunch and there were no clients around!)

So boss goes across the street to the fire department (what luck that is, eh?) and about a minute later they bring their truck over, lights ablaze and all, and they storm the place! They start poking at the ceiling tiles and waving these laser detectors around and everything pretty much turned to chaos. Eventually we all got evacuated, standing around in the cold. Another fire truck from another station tears into the parking lot, lights and sirens going strong, and right behind them comes the fire chief. Pretty soon there's about 15 people in the office and probably 5 on the roof, all trying to find the source of this smoke. About four people interviewed me asking if I saw where the smoke came from (I don't know how many times I told them that it fell on me, I only knew that it came from somewhere above me).

So they poked around for about 30 minutes and eventually determined with about 99% certainty that it was a ballast in one of our fluorescent lights--the one that, ironically enough, I was sitting under. They wanted us to call and electrician just in case, keep the lights off, and--worst of all--leave the heat off for about half an hour. And it was FREEZING today. Fun times.

I had a friend call me asking if I was okay ... and both my parents showed up too! Poor shopping center. First buildings flood, then the bank gets robbed, and now a fire--of sorts. And it's not even a full moon.

Small Changes || Wednesday, March 8th

Did a few minor changes with the layout, as you can see. I could not get the tables and divs to line up properly in Internet Explorer, and being the nag of a perfectionist that I am, I just couldn't let that stay. So I kicked out the nasty tables and went back to good 'ol divs. I've checked and rechecked this thing in both IE and Mozilla ... but if things looks totally wrong for you all, please let me know!

I've worked so hard on this layout I'm starting not to like it anymore! LOL! (Okay, so I'm kidding).

And *Gasp!* Why thank you for the comments, Bri and Afton and Jeanie. Hey Geezer--you still like it even though it has Josh Groban in it? wink

Next thing to do is to find new smilies. And then delete that spam and such. And oh, I got rid of the hideous black border around the comments form, hooray!

Sooo... the biology lab test was okay, I think. I'll take a wild guess and say 80. As for the test in the bio class itself, that one I rocked. I know I missed at least 5 (d'oh!) but I'm hoping for at least 90 on that one. Hopefully I'll find out early next week.

I took this weekend off from work for a trip I was going to take, but can't take anymore because Galileo and Star both got sick and sucked all the money from me. So, instead, I'm going to be playing catch-up getting this pile of homework done. Maybe the last-minute cancellation was a good thing.

The weather here has been horrendous. Wet, heavy, soppy, soggy snow. Visibility was terrible. And I don't know what it is, but whenever even just a little bit of moisture hits the road, people automatically turn to idiots. Especially driving without headlights. That really burns my biscuits.

The power went out today in one of the campus buildings, so my last class of the day was cancelled. And--well, let's put it this way ... trying to cross a very busy intersection when there are NO signals (this power outage went for blocks!) ... that's a challenge. More than once I thought I was going to die before even getting to the lightrail station. Not to mention I was soaking wet. And cold.

And how's this for a series of terrible coincidences ... the bank about 100 feet from where I work was robbed today. And where was the getaway car parked? In the alleyway behind my mom's salon on the other side of the parking lot. confused

It's a crazy world we live in.

Black, white, and red all over? || Monday, March 6th

Haha. It's not a zebra with diaper rash...

Isn't it pretty! big grin I love this new layout. I know, I said I'd never change from the Endymion one (sorry Afton), but I found this picture from Chess (the one on the far left) and I just couldn't resist! And voila! Two days later emerges this wonderfully abstract and symbolic piece of work for one of the greatest musicals of our time. Behold the power of Chess. I tell you, it's highly underappreciated. And the fact that Josh Groban stars in one of the productions in a plus, too. wink

There's only one thing that I'm not satisfied with ... and that's the horrendous black border that appears around the comments field when you go to post a comment. I'm trying to think of a way to override the CSS code ... but that's an adventure for another day. If anyone has any helpful ideas, please chuck them my way. Oh, and I hope to do some touching up on that chess piece in the top image. I can still see a bit of white from the original picture. And there's an alignment problem in IE vs. Mozilla that I'm trying to fix. It's only a difference of a few pixels, but it bugs me!

And deleting those crazy spam comments and blocking the ISPs is on my list of things to do, I promise!

More to come later ... But I need to get back to studying for my biology lab midterm tomorrow! crazy

Happy, Happpy, Joy, Joy. || Saturday, March 4th

Happy March, yo! Personally, this month has coming in like a lion, or so the old saying goes. But I don't mean the weather. The weather has been beautiful, though I've been stuck inside during it all--oh, no, it's the events that have sucked.

This time it was Star's turn to go to the emergency center. She started ... well, choking or something, constantly gagging and licking at her nose. And I left her alone for 2 minutes at most ... and when I came back, her tail hair was GONE. Her beautiful tail! The fluff head chewed it all off!

Soo ... they took x-rays and found a "mysterious foreign mass" in her esophagus which turned out to be fluid. And they sent us on our way to keep an eye on her. Poor Star with the stubby tail. Hopefully all the hair will grow back.

They don't know why she chewed it all off in the first place. I'm kind of worried.

So the next evening she relapsed and did the same thing. I think it's the rawhides we've been giving her. No more for awhile. I can't handle this dog scaring me like that every night!

Speaking of which, my other gerbil, Honey, died sometime during the night. She was old, so I was expecting it. But still...My room is slowly clearing out. First Pepper, then Laperriere D'Artagnan, then Honey. All I have left are my silly dogs!

I have a rant. There is a customer at work that I just CAN NOT STAND. She only prefers to speak to one of the girls that works there--which is all fine and dandy, I don't really care--but she is an ABSOLUTE MEGA BITCH to the rest of us. Now, I'm sorry, if you have specific people you'd like to talk to, that's peachy and all, but don't treat the rest of us like shit in the process.

People piss me off. I give up. Back to homework now.
